Hi
There is an huge bugg whithin xml surface model import.
Example files:
Tunnel in dxf referens (or import, the same result)
The same information in surface xml and imported to microstation is not good (bugg)
Lok at the sides of the tunnel in image, these are totally wrong.
Microstaion version:
Version:10.17.01.58
Thanks Otto and MarkBut I understand that when you want to create inside microstation an DTM or TRM or even simple mesh from scanned tunnel points the mathemathical issue is correct and it will not work (I have tested it and I know)
BUT, really, the word IMPORT within import xml is for me an import function of an file that have information already created in xml format, the surface xml is triangles "shapes with 3 corners" in xml language. Why do the import function in Microstation trying to resolve an mathemathical problem when it only needs to read the xml information of the xml file and create the geomerty within.
The result of the "triangles" within xml file is generated as shapes in microstation, or positive and what I know thre is no "mathematical" issue for shapes to be negative or negative or have I missed something?
What I really want to know is, why Microstation surface xml import is trying to do the same thing as creating surface xml.
Regards
Tom
Hi Tom,
The thing here is that the LandXML function you are trying to use is for the creation of a Terrain surface (with all the limitations involved with that).
If you're looking for a tool to import effectively mesh triangles that isn't to tool I believe. You may be stuck with having to convert the xml to a point file you can import or some other means.

Mark

Hi Mark
To Create an TRM you need at least descartes or for more functions the Open series. To IMPORT an surface XML you need only Vanilla Microstation (and this is what I describes). There is lot of softwares that can import surface landxml as is so why not vanilla microstation
AND
PS Mark
The elements imported from surface XML are NOT imported as mesh, they are imported as shapes
