Hello,
I am trying to open a 3d scan and layer in a Plant3d model, but I am not sure which Bentley program will allow that. I am trying to use Bentley Pointools, but I am stuck on the conversion of the Plant3d model.
I understand the format for the scan needs to be e57 or POD or whatever the case may be, but which program am I to use that will allow me to open a 3d model within a 3d scan?
Furthermore, for the 3d model that is being generated in plant 3d, which program will allow for me to open it? otherwise, if I have to change the format, which Bentley program, will allow me to open that and the 3d scan to view them within each other, and which format should i convert it to?

Is the 3D Model a DGN file?
its a .dwg from plant 3d or a .nwd from Navisworks. do you know if either of those programs will export to something that Bentley can support?
Try this:
thank you. I will try this
when I load from the point cloud dialog, i attach as .pod correct?
this is unchartered territory for me, but i suppose you know I am trying to take an existing 3d scan as e57, convert using pointools to.pod, then lay in the contractors new design to check for collisions, etc.
If you have a .pod file already then yes, however I seem to recall that a pod file can be automatically created from other file types when its loaded.
