I think there's a bug with dockable dialogs and multiple application windows. Dockable dialogs can be docked in application windows that are not their "home" window and over time I think this causes User.upf to corrupt. It takes a couple of weeks to happen, but eventually microstation will begin to crash upon every attempt to exit and will not save work.I am trying to see if moving the dialogs first by right clicking the titles and choosing change screen and THEN docking them to the second screen may prevent this.
This is occurring with Microstation sessions opened from Projectwise Projectwise explorer CE 10.00.03.453
Microstation CE 10.17.00.209
The main question I would ask is whether you can replicate this issue outside of your ProjectWise environment? If it is specific to operating MicroStation from ProjectWise environment I think it might be better to move your post to the ProjectWise Design Integration Forum

I'll try, but I think this is a microstation issue with how it operates with projectwise, not the other way around.
I believe you might be right with your initial assumption. I too have had numerous problems with my upf file becoming corrupt and I also have docked and pinned dialog boxes with 2 application windows. It almost appears to be a GUI problem.
Example: when I first open a DGN file and try to open my view attributes dialog (which is docked & pinned to the right hand side of my left application window) this is what I see
The dialog is totally blank and unusable. I have to go to the file menu and re-open the file in order to get the view attributes dialog to show anything. I wouldn't be surprised that the same underlying issue is responsible for the problem with not being able to click on the "treat reference as element" column in the reference file dialog box (which is also docked & pinned to my right application window).
It's very frustrating. Microstation's default UI is atrocious and I need to customise everything to get anything remotely useable for my workflow. And it still lacks many customisation options like being able to dock toolbars without them snapping or changing orientation.

I don't know if this variable still works. You can try set this variable and see if it makes a difference. This from back in the v8.5 days of Microstation.
