I have a 3D linestyle that does not seem to render properly. See images below. The Rail Linestyle is on the same level as the Block in the drawing. Int the wireframe view it appears good, when rendered in i.e. Smooth or illustration etc. it does not pick up material and the guardrail itself appears to be wireframe. The guardrail beam itself is "Smart Surface" according to the properties, (is that a mesh?) there seems to be ongoing issues with meshes in linestyles. The post is an extruded sold and it does not seem to render. Is there a color or display setting in the Linestyles to fix this?
The surfaces and solids used to create the linestyle render properly before used to create the Linestyle.
Using MicroStation update 17, windows 10 Enterprise.
3D linestyles are unofficial technology and seems to be abandoned as none of my reported issues are resolved. The guardrail linestyles provided by Bentley are also broken it is not best example how to use these linestyles. If Bentey colleagues are interested could help train them how to make these lines properly. Don't get me wrong option to create 3D linestyles are amazing but the implementation is below any standards and overlooked everywhere.Seems this is another known and ignored issue -communities.bentley.com/.../3d-guardrail-linestyle---solids-appearing-in-wireframe-materials-not-applying
What type of elements were used to create the elements? I have found that if using parametric solids the display is sometimes not rendered correctly.
According to Mike's original post, the beam portion of the linestyle is a "Smart Surface" while the post portion is an extruded solid. I do not believe either element type is parametric.

Hi,
Try converting the geometry to a mesh, see if that works.

3D linestyles are awesome...not - RE: I try to find 3d cable barrier v2 .rsc file or how to make itDelivered 3D linestyles by Bentley are joke and example how to not create 3D linestyles. If anyone interested I have managed to create 3D guardrails as meshes and even so that they nicely fit around corners not as the Bentley provided disaster.
Also Bentley should provide guardrails as Generative Components which could deal with even more complicated cases.Look, no gaps. Can Bentley provided linestyles do that? No.
