Hi,
Changes in dim style e.g. by adding text frame (any type) for notes are not reflected on existing notes nor after applying Change Dimension. Same issue when element template definition is changed by assigning different dim style that has text frame for notes.
Is this a know defect and has anyone a workaround?
Please do not move this to ORD as this issue seems related to MicroStation / Power Platform
Regards,
Mariusz
While I don't know if this is a bug or "Works As Designed", it doesn't surprise me. Note styles have always been difficult to update or modify, and the results aren't always what I expect.
My "workaround" has always been to re-place the notes with the correct style. No, that's not ideal, but it's been faster for me that toying around with the style trying to get it to update without messing other things up.
Hopefully someone else here will have better news than I.

Hi MaryB,
Thanks for quick reply!
Are you suggesting to delete all notes that need changes in dim style and re-do them? Seriously is this all MicroStation can offer?

I am hopeful that someone here has something better to offer! I tend to get focused on getting the thing out the door, so when I run into tools that don't give me expected results, I just push them through manually instead of taking a lot of time to figure it out programmatically. There may be settings I am unaware of that make Notes update properly.
I don't delete them then replace them. I edit the "bad note" so I can copy the text, create a "good note" and paste in the old text and place the note. Then I delete the old note. And yes, it is that bad. Notes are one of the most opaque and unpredicatable elements in MicroStation (at least for the basic drafting side).
Yeah, it is how I understood you would do it.
However, if it has been like this for years it must be a bug. Hopefully Bentley will at least confirm that!
