Hi
I've created a label for my sheet stamp. It includes text fields displaying 3 kinds of data.
1. Model name. 2. Item type attached to file3. Item type attached to model
The label displays 1 and 2 correctly. But not the third, the item type-data attached to the model. Is this a known problem for others, or is it only me?
The item types for both file and model-attachment is created in the same dgnlib so since the file-items work, the problem should not lay there.
I also note that if I double-click the text and open the fields editor, it previews the correct value, but it doesn't show as text on my sheet.
The label is placed with "enable to create relative association to element". I've tried "update all fields" without any change.
I've attached the sheet file down below.
I'm running openbuildings update 10, based on MicroStation 17.

I'm not sure that I understand your problem.
I made a copy of your model and named it LA Solutions. Your text field displays the model name correctly...

Hello Jon.
Yes, the model property is displayed correctly (red mark in the image below). So is also the item type properties attached to the file (blue mark).
But the item type properties attached to the model is not displayed, even though you can see to the left that it has values for most of them (green mark). They are the problem.
Hi Robert,
We could but to keep it simple we simply have a cell of the text fields and the Item Type is actually inside the cell so it is self-contained. It contains a point at the origin with the Item Types attached and we just insert the cell to our origin point in our sheet seed (or add manually to a sheet if required). Works well and we have just started using Item Type expressions to use Excel lookup tables to automate the sheet fields based on the drawing numbers. Note that these are simple text fields so no issues like labels have.

Mark

Ok, interesting. I will have a look at that. Can you change the item type properties in the model you place this cell, or how does that work?
Once you attach one of them the Item Type Library gets attached to the active dgn. Any further cell attachments use this same attached Item Type Library so once the Item Type is in the DGN you can either edit the Item Type properties so they are all updated or simply use the Edit Text tool to override specific Text Fields in the placed cell.
One thing I have found is that if you delete the Item Type library, it will break the link just like your original issue (even replace cell doesnt help although it copies the Item Type Library back in) so in this event you need to place the cell again. Not a showstopper, but something to keep in mind. Hopefully that issue would be fixed as the same defect (if it is the same cause).

Good observation, but that is to be expected.
The Item Type library supplies the formal definition of the available Item Types. If the definition of a particular Item Type no longer exists, then any Item instance that relies on that Item Type loses its integrity.
An analogy would be a set of linked worksheets in, say, Excel. If one worksheet performs a lookup in another worksheet, but the other worksheet is deleted, the first worksheet loses its referenced data.
