remove single element from Selection Set

Question

MicroStation CONNECT Edition - Version 10.17.02.61 
 I use selection sets for various operations. 
 I miss being able to remove a single element by holding down the control key and picking it. 
 I know I can go to the Tool Settings dialog, extra steps. 
 Anyone know of a quick way to remove a single element from a selection set in Connect?

Could be a case of you wanting the selection tool to always start with single and new. I created a custom Element selection tool that uses the chain of Key-Ins choose element;powerselector single;powerselector mode new

Right, as Doug said make sure you have selected the first icons (that sometimes slips to other selections that is when you get such "unexpected" behaviour)
