Curved Text Leader

Problem with text and curved leaders. I have my proper settings for a curved text leader with a capsule text outline.

However, when I add the text, the leader becomes straight.

If I don't add text, and just make an line with arrow, the leader stays curved.

help please.

  • Hi Lorys,

while that question may be relevant in many cases it is honestly annoying for me in a case like this.

As a user “as of old” -like me- I am pretty sure you must carry some awareness of how bad this has always been. Forgive me my harshness, but sometimes this stuff get the better of me.

It may be frustrating to you but it is important information because not everyone use the latest version of the software. Knowing the version could lead to a simple answer like "There was a bug in the version you re using and has been resolved in a newer version". A lot of time could be wasted testing an issue that has already been resolved. I still see occasional posts where users are asking questions about Microstation J. Many users may be using Microstation SS10. I personally have projects still using Microstation v8i (actually I use Power InRoads SS2).

It's been suggested several times in the past that posts should be setup so the user must provide the software version in order for a question to be asked.

I've used the curved leader tool many times over the past 20 yrs but I have not used it in CONNECT. Test now in CONNECT, I do not not see the issue you describe in 10.17.00.209. I am able to place a curved leader with text enclosed in a capsule.

What version are you using & what tool are you using to place the curved leader?

  • As I said: I know it is important in many cases

I mostly just preset my post headlines with the Version in brackets - like [CE17.2]>question<

But in this particular case the issues in question are coming a long way. So I know that they apply to recent versions as well as the even the outdated. So it appears just to distract. If I would know that an issue is solved in a recent version I would just recomend an update. Or one inglorious workaround.

Yes, that is best practice. To me it is always relevant and that is always the first question asked. We can assume that users are referring to more current versions but that is not always the case.

So it appears just to distract.

I disagree. I tested this in my version of the software and found the tool to work properly. If the OP is using the same version we can determine it is something on their end, not the software. It's also important for users to identify any other software they may be using in conjunction as those addons can be causing the issue.

I have verification from a Bentley rep that the different platform designers do not communicate changes to each other. So if the ORD team finds an issue with base Microstation, which is the base of ORD, they will "fix" Microstation to work in ORD the way they need it to. That information is not relayed back to the Microstation designers. The same tool in each platform may function differently.

As an example, Using Microstation SS2 with InRoads SS2, all the accusnap selections work when using Shift+Right Click to enable them. Using Power InRoads SS2, the perpendicular & intersection snaps do not function with that method & you need to select them from the toolbar.

But in this particular case the issues in question are coming a long way

There could be an older version of software the OP is using that many of us never installed. Case in point, we never used Microstation XM. If the OP is using Microstation XM I would not be able to help them with a workaround because I never really used that version and the problem may have been specific to that platform.

Getting off topic for this thread so I won't be replying to the relevance of versions here any longer.
