Hello, its me again.
I was wondering if there is any keyin to place text with already text in it. For example : I press custom button and the button will open text dialog with preset text in it. Is there any way to do that? Now Iam using the "place dialogtext" keyin but I want to make it more automated. PS Iam using microstation V8i SS3

Here is an old AskInga link to a utility for placing repetative text. This works with CONNECT. If you know how to edit the code you can add your own predefined text.
I added the predefined text in the bottom half of my utility.

@Mary - as Bob mentioned before the text favorites would do this as well - no need for Inga's utility in CONNECT.

Whenever we move to CONNECT/ORD...Even then, we will have plenty of projects in the V8i pipeline, so this will be very useful for a few more years.

Tim, the issue right now with Text Favorites is that the list is not in a common file that is accessed and updated by everyone. I did find a way to create the list & share it but the shared file is not updatable, at least the last time I checked. Maybe some configuration updates have been included to allow this now?
I see - but couldn't the same be said by other functions in the products ?
They meant for it to be used as a "standard" supplied to the users.
It can be a common file for all to use and access if you put it in an area on your network where everyone has read/write access and then add that file to your DGNLIBLIST variable. Not sure how well that would work, but it could be done.
I've done that. The issue is that the list cannot be edited. I was able to have everyone view and use the list, which is good, but trying to add new items, the list did not update for the users.

I just tried it and it seems to work for me.
Created a testfile.dgnlib, opened it, added a text favorite. Configured the DGNLIBLIST variable to include this file. Restarted MS and opened a DGN file. The text favorite showed.
I went back into the DGNLIB file and added another text favorite, saved the change, then opened a DGN file and the added text favorite appeared in the list.
am I missing a step possibly ?
Actually, I am thinking of the wrong item here. I was thinking about Special Characters, not Text Favorites.
