Hi guys,
I have captured an image in Microstation connect edition from bing. I noticed that, the captured image has poor resolution when imported as a raster. Is there any possibility to adjust the resolution of the raster image? Note kindly that, I had a look on the 'Raster Manager' but could not find any tool to improve the quality of the image.
Many thanks in advance,
Mamdouh
How did you capture the image?
Was it internally through Microstation itself, or are you importing it as an external file?
Hi Doug,
In fact I have captured it in Microstation but did not know how to save it inside the file, so I saved the image and attached it again as a raster. Is there an easier way for doing it?
When I imported the raster I noticed it has a poor resolution.
Was it via this method?

yes indeed. I have watched this video and applied what he said. The thing is that, if I make a capture for part of the aerial photo and save the file, it disappears when I open the file again.
Importing is poor resolution as it creates legacy 256 color bitmap element. Only option to embed is use paste as picture then it creates OLE element but it takes lot of space as it is then for compatibility BMP format(internally slightly compressed with ZLIB).
if your using bing as the back ground view as in the youtube you dont need to capture it just save settings before you close the file and it will always display provided you have internet access turned on.. now a few tips.
I would create a new 3d file drawing same coordinate system and ref attach your drawing and zoom to suit the coverage you want, now turn off your ref file drawing and use the google earth tools to display the aerial data you can look up how to capture google earth imagery in colour and have it match the mesh area in your 3d dgn.. takes too long to describe every step there is a bentley wiki on the full instructions. The capture resolution is pretty high provided you dont try to capture too big an area.. but it is google earth and may not be as upto date as bing no promises there ... but I prefer GEarth as once captured doesnt need internet, but Bing will always be the most upto date version everytime it loads from internet...this might be a bad thing.. depends on your needs.
