Hi,
Are there any restrictions on adding\modifying keyboard shortcuts in Microstation connect edition? I tried to follow the same steps for doing this in V8i version as well as the instructions about it for the Connect edition in the link below, but it does not seem to work.

They are also limited to 256 total characters in total length when chaining Key Ins together
You need to have focus on a view window for them to activate correctly.
The dialogue you are looking at
Keyboard ShortcutsKey In accudraw dialog shortcutsIs restricted to only lower case letters and symbols, space bar, and no numbers (numbers are available for sub-menus) AND you cannot use modifier keys with them (Shift, Ctrl, Alt) I would also avoid using number pad characters and the following characters, as they are used in some tool-specific dialogues and can cause operational error.

Are restricted to 1 to 12, but you can use any of the four modifier combinations between NONE and Shift+CtrlWhilst they are available, I would avoid all combinations containing ALT as they tend to invoke Windows commands ahead of MicroStation and negatively impact your work.
Mouse Buttons
Mouse Button shortcuts eight modifier combinations between NONE and Shift+Ctrl+Alt (except for NONE+Data and NONE+Reset). I would avoid Ctrl+Data as it interferes with the Element Selection tool.
Button availability is mouse driver dependant, but you can hopefully specify what XButton number they are in the Remap Button sub-dialogue if Microstation recognises a unique input from the mouse's driver. By default the middle mouse button, which has become the scroll wheel button for most mouses is Xbutton 1. You can combine any simultaneous two button press together as a 'Chord' to create a new Xbutton. Right+Left chord is the default Tentative mapping, but can be remapped. This is also useful for left handed mouse users having control issues.Key In dialog buttonmap
There are options for touchpad gestures, but I have no experience with them

you are righ Dough, it is accudraw shortcuts that I am looking at. I am trying to only use lower case letters but it does not take the value. I have read that there become some restrictions in the new version of Microstation about adding shortcuts and wonder if that is true and might be the reason for the problem. .
I found that <Tab> rather than <Enter> is better for navigating across text fields.
To add to this, if you like using function keys, it is possible to load another function key menu from a function key:
How to load function key by commend
I used this procedure many years ago. Before there were dinension style, text styles or annotation scale, all of those settings needed to be defined manually. I had a regular function key menu for drafting, but on my F12 key, I had a Shift+F12 to load a specialized function key menu with all of my text or dimension options. I also had an Alt+F12 function key menu for other, more specialized drafting command strings, as well as often-placed cells. Ctrl+F12 was the command on each menu to reload my regular function key menu. It was a bit to keep track of, but it worked very well to allow me to annotate consistently and efficiently.
This approach still works today, so if you want more shortcuts and you can keep track of your different menus, you could look into function keys.

Thanks Mary..In fact what I am trying to do is to use the same shortcuts that I used to use in AutoCAD, like: drawing objects, trim, copy, ...etc
This means I have to add commands with letters not function keys, like: L (drawing a line), Tr (trim), Co(copy)....etc.
For the time being I can't figure out how to achieve this in the connect edition.

Are you aware that MicroStation provides some AutoCAD key-ins?
