Microstation CONNECT Print Organizer - Fonts not printing correctly

10.17.02.61

I have a file that is being printed with Print Organizer and the fonts are not printing properly. Using the normal Plot Dialog, the fonts are correct. I have verified the plot driver is the same in both. There is a design script being used but it is applied in both and I verified it is the same design script in both. One other factor, this is being printed from a sheet model.

Is this a known issue with Print Organizer?

For now, I have our users .creating the pdf for this sheet outside Print Organizer

  • While I'm sure my issue is unrelated, I'll be watching this.
I have a project (V8i) where I can do a single print with the correct fonts, but my Print Organizer uses incorrect fonts. I am the only person with this problem. Mine is also a PW Managed environment, so it's extra confusing why my computer isn't working correctly.

Do you have any command line arguments/switches on your MicroStation icon? I remember there were issues with certain switches that weren't being recognized by the Print Organizer process, and they needed to be set in a configuration variable. That may be an old problem that is not the issue, but from this thread, I found:

MS_PLT_ENGINE_CMDLINE_ARGS specifies custom command line arguments used by Print Organizer when invoking its background MicroStation process. If this variable is undefined and MS_CONFIG is defined, then the background process is invoked with the command line argument -wc"$(MS_CONFIG)"

You may need to read through the thread to get to the relevant portion. And it may not be relevant at all...

  • I have heard there is an issue where embedded Bentley fonts and truetype fonts with the same name can be accidentally used interchangeably. They look identical to the operator, but metadata wise it's a headache for software drivers.

No. We have our workspace setup on a server and select the DOT workspace and project workset from the drop down menus in Microstation/ORD.

This variable is not set either

  • Does the sheet definition for this one file in Print Organizer have something set for the WorkSet in the Advanced tab of Print Organizer properties for the sheet? Our advice to our users is to never set that option, it seems to only cause problems for us. When setting up Print Styles I usually check the "Clear value in print definitions" for the WorkSet option.

Also might open the DGN for the sheet and force it to be associated with the current workset. Not sure if having the dgn's branding different can cause this, but it's something to try.

  • I am having the same issue. There is a Bentley font (rsc) that is being replaced by CE Print Organizer. There is no truetype font with the same name. SS10 print dialog and print organizer plot correctly. Also, the CE print dialog plots correctly. The problem is just with the CE Print Organizer. These plots are not in sheet models and do use the same configurations in SS10 and CE. Pen table only has text substitutions.
