I have a survey dgn file with a level that includes trees (see image #1). I have referenced this survey file into another dgn file that has a closed shape of my tree removal limits (see image #2). I would like to count the number of trees

RE: Count # of Elements in a Closed Shape

This worked.
Thank you!

RE: Count # of Elements in a Closed Shape

You might like to consider using Reports in MicroStation CONNECT Edition to count the cells. Although the following Wiki article is from the Building forum it is still valid.

(CONNECT Edition - Is there any way to count all cells present in a drawing?

The following tool is from LA Solutions and Jon Summers and is quite good.

Try the following:

Create a fence from the closed shape using the Place Fence tool with these settings:

Fence Type: Element

Fence Mode: Inside

Key-in Fence Selection New to select all elements inside the fence.

The number of selected elements will be displayed in the Selection Set area of the status bar.

Regards,
Ron
