Anyone know what a .BIM file is?
Hi Dominic,
Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a digital representation of physical and functional characteristics of a facility. A BIM is a shared knowledge resource for information about a facility forming a reliable basis for decisions during its life-cycle; defined as existing from earliest conception to demolition.
Here you can find out more about How to Attach a Local .BIM file as Reference in the new MicroStation 2023.
Hi Zeno,
I think the issue we have is how we generate a .BIM file from an iModel. I dont believe this is General Access?

Hi Mark,
I believe this functionality is only for developers on iTwin platform, and files are generated from the iTwin Snapshot https://www.itwinjs.org/learning/tutorials/create-test-imodel-offline/. The recommended workflow however is to use attach an iModel from the iModelHub in order to attach the latest, most up to date revision of the iModel in your DGN file.
