I've begun delving into WMS imagery as a source for our projects. I prefer it to any static imagery for many many reasons.
As far as I know, you find the link to the WMS server (something like https://tnmap.tn.gov/arcgis/services/BASEMAPS/IMAGERY_WEB_MERCATOR/MapServer/WMSServer), type it into the dialog for WMS attachment, and the connection is made, and you have an image.
But it doesn't always work. Quite often I will come up with a server error: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send.
I have no idea what that means or how to troubleshoot it. I have no idea if there is a workaround, a setting or other option I should be using.I know the WMS server is valid because I can see it in other programs.
It seems like you may have discussed a similar issue around a year ago with a suggestion that it may be related to a TLS Protocol issue using the older MicroStation V8i version. Have you also tested this using MicroStation CE or 2023?

I found that thread, too and have a ticket in with my IT department to look into it.
I haven't really tried it with Connect (ORD) because I can't use ORD on this project. Client specifications trump software updates every single time. Civil projects have a long lifecycle, and as a subconsultant we really have no say in the deliverable. I can test it, certainly, but even if it works there, I may not be able to use it on the project back in V8i. I suppose it will show me if the link works at all...
Some WMS sites do work so I am a little skeptical of the TLS protocol, but I know nothing about how these site are coded. There could well be file protocols that my system can't interface with.
