I've begun delving into WMS imagery as a source for our projects. I prefer it to any static imagery for many many reasons.
As far as I know, you find the link to the WMS server (something like https://tnmap.tn.gov/arcgis/services/BASEMAPS/IMAGERY_WEB_MERCATOR/MapServer/WMSServer), type it into the dialog for WMS attachment, and the connection is made, and you have an image.
But it doesn't always work. Quite often I will come up with a server error: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send.
I have no idea what that means or how to troubleshoot it. I have no idea if there is a workaround, a setting or other option I should be using.I know the WMS server is valid because I can see it in other programs.
Site seems blocked for me but managed to download using proxy.
Try this:
tnmap.tn.gov-wms1.1.1.zip

Because it needs access to xwms file to work. Also Openroads connects using WMS 1.3 version so same xwms may not work in v8i.

Yes this is annoying should have made same way WMS works that last level is kept and zoomed if needed.edit: added as idea - https://microstation.ideas.aha.io/ideas/MSR-I-1290
It's definitely something V8i related. I can connect to the site with ORD fine, but when I reopen the file in V8i the image doesn't appear and doesn't show in the Raster Manager. So it looks like I'm out of luck at this point.
I also have SID files for the location, but apparently, those are too advanced a version as well. I was unaware that images have versions, but there are many, many things I don't know.
The Bing maps work for printing, but they have a nasty tendency to not show past a certain zoomed-in level. We can only go "so close" before we lose the image, and that level is too far out for what we need to draw.

Apparently not, because the WMS manager can't connect to the site. And I don't know enough about creating a WMS out of the GetCapabilites info to generate my own.
Are you able to create xwms file for this attachment?
