I have been trying to convert old DGN files to DWG files to develop consistency through the P&IDs, but I have run into a myriad of issues while doing so.
1) I have a very old version of Microstation, which is older than I am and is not used often I imagine. This leads to issues as I cannot find any information on it.
2) When I go to export the DGN to a DWG in Microstation and reopen it in AutoCAD, there are formatting issues as shown in the image below. It seems as if the text and lines have remained unchanged for the most part, but the reducers and valves and shapes like them have been moved away from their original position.
3) There are many options when exporting, and I do not know which option is pertinent to my issue. The options are shown below in the pop out box.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

MicroStation/J was superseded by MicroStation V8 in 2001. See the History of MicroStation.
Naturally, a product so old supported an equally-aged version of DWG. From your screenshot, it looks like it produced a DWG file for AutoCAD 13. What version of AutoCAD do you use?

I have AutoCAD 2023 or release #37, I was just wondering if there was any way to convert using J. A bit of a backstory here, I was given a computer that was said to have Microstation on it to help in converting DGN to DWG files, it just ended up being a Microstation version that is older than myself. Do you think if I got a newer version of Microstation, that it would convert successfully? Even with the DGNs being as old as they are?

Later versions of MicroStation (V8/CONNECT/2023) can read a V7 file. They can save that file as a DGN or DWG. The supported DWG format has, of course, changed over the years because AutoDesk don't provide continuity of file format.
If I transitioned to a newer version of Microstation and saved the old DGN as a DWG, do you know if AutoCAD would allow me to open it there and edit it? Or would other issues arise from this as well?
