Nested references coming in grey

Working in Microstation Connect 10.17.01.58

I have a drawing with a reference that also contains a reference.

The first reference comes in fine with all the proper Level colors but the nested reference comes in greyed, despite no override and the proper color codes being displayed. I've tried tooling around in References, Level Manager, and Level Display but to no avail. All the guides I can find on overriding a nested reference are going the other way, from people with colors trying to grey whereas I am the opposite.

Any ideas? I'm pretty baffled.

  • Are you talking about the levels being greyed out in the Level Manager dialog, or are your nested elements actually grey on your screen?

If you want to change the level attributes of your nested reference files, you will need to edit your configuration variables to add (or revise to) MS_LEVEL_EDIT_NESTED_ATTACHMENT_LEVELS = 1. By default, MicroStation does not allow level changes for nested attachments.
