Hi,
Just wondering if it's WAD when the remove vertex tool doesn't work with complex shape in MS23.1? Sample file attached. Same file works fine in SS10.
Best regards,

COMPLEX SHAPE_MS23.1.dgn
Hi Tuan,Can you specify the steps you took to create the complex shape in your .dgn file?I agree with Barry - it does seem that there is something extra contained in the complex shape (extraneous point) that could be causing the problem. If you simplify the geometry using the Create Complex Shape tool settings, then you can use the Delete Vertex on the element without issue.
I am curious how the initial element was created. Maybe that can give us some clues as to how the issue came to be?Kind Regards,Jayson
Hi Jayson,
The shape obtained in my original post, I believed was from a trim surface operation. Complex shapes can come from multitude of sources: trimmed surface, dropped solid, solid face extraction, create complex shape tool etc. Attached is another sample file with 3 complex shapes:
While shape was extracted from the face of 3D solid.
Red shape was copy of white, dropped then recreated with create complex shape tool with "simplify" turned on.
Yellow shape was copy of white, dropped then recreated with create complex shape tool with "simplify" turned off.
The delete vertex tool can't work with any of the shape in MS 2023.00.01.44. But again, MS SS10 the same tool can process those shapes without any issue.
From your comment, I assumed you took the original complex shape from my OP, run the create complex tool with "simplify" option turned on in MS 2023.00.01.44. I did try that and the result is no longer a complex shape (snapshot below), which would explain why the "Delete Vertex" tool now works without issue.

Hi Tuan,Thanks for the clarification. I have been able to reproduce this issue with the provided workflow and will report this internally for review. On a side note, I was able to use the "Delete Vertex" tool on the yellow element in your new .dgn file (using MS2023 23.00.01.44) except on the arc portion of the element.-Jayson P.
I stand corrected Jayson. It seems "simplify" option indeed helps the delete vertex tool recognise complex shapes.
Hi Tuan,Thanks, this is good to know. Also, be advised, our development team has determined this to be a bug.Bug # 1307753 has been filed for this issue.-Jayson P.
