Hi,
I'm merging files that have text fields in them, in order to create archive copies of issued drawings. Is there a way to convert the fields back into normal text without losing the information? Thanks,
EF
Currently Fields cannot be converted to simple text by any method.

Field is a special kind of TextNode. We can use Drop tool (just need to turn on Complex toggle button) to drop Field to normal text. Please try. Regards, YongAn

Going by the date of posting, you may be referring to two different versions of MicroStation.

There is one way/workaround. Select the text with the Field and Copy it to the Windows Clipboard (Ctrl+C). Then go to Place Text and paste from the Windows clipboard. You would probably have to set your Text Settings to match the existing Text beforehand.
PS: This also works on Enter Data Fields.
I Hope This Helps Someone Reading This! (Intergraph>PseudoStation>MicroStation user since 1980's)
Does this Drop method work with CONNECT ? I've tried, and made sure the Application Elements box was checked, but I doesn't seem to drop the field?
Can anyone else drop a field successfully in Connect?
This thread was started many years ago about merging DGN files. Since your question is specifically about MicroStation CONNECT and dropping text fields (whatever that means), you might consider starting a new thread having topic Drop Text Fields. You should explain what you expect to happen when you 'drop a text field'. Examples are always welcome to illustrate a question.
