Linestyles with True Type Fonts

We are working with a client that updated their linestyles to use True Type Fonts - Arial.  The problem we and other users are having is the linestyles that used the True Type Fonts are now showing up with "Wingding" for fonts instead of Arial for fonts.

We informed the client of the problem, and the client told us that our configuration variables are not pointing to the correct fonts.rsc file.  We have both MS_SYMBRSRC and MS_FONTPATH pointing to fonts.rsc; however, we still have wingdings showing up.  If we do get the linestyles to show up correctly on the screen, they still print out to the PDF drivers as wingding.

I thought True Type Fonts are from windows.  I'm confused as to what to do.  Can True Type Fonts be used for linestyles?  Also, Microstation Message Center outputs that it's replacing SHX font with msdefault.  For me, this would indicate that something is related to AutoCAD, but the client said AutoCAD was not used to create the linestyle.
