When using the dimension with leader and the dot terminator we have always thought the dot was too small. We have tried numerous things but the size of the dot is linked to the arrowhead size (and text) so there is no way to change just the dot. The origin symbol looks to be the correct size but it's not filled in. We've resorted to just placing a filled circle over the end of the line. The other opion would be to create a cell but I'm curious as to where it get's the symbol it is using now. All it says is default. Is it in the standard fonts or is it built into MS?
Anyone have an idea?
Marc, the size of the "dot terminator" is based on the text size. However, you can control its diameter based on the ratio of terminator "height" to text size. Dimension Styles > Geometry > Terminators > Height. Depending on which option you use, try 2 for the solid dot (filled ball). We use the open circle (empty ball) with a value of .5. Depending on your setup, you may need a separate dimension style for this option.

If you have a dot on one end and an arrow on the other end, won't the arrow size also be affected? The bottom line is: There needs to be away to control the size of the individual terminator types or a way to individually control the size of the terminators on each end of a dimension (if not both). It might also be good to be able to separate control of the terminator size on notes from the other dimensions.
A common situation is when you have a non-contiguous profile, section, or plan where one side of the dimension will be "open ended". In that situation we usually place a dot or single arrow on one end and a double-arrow (often without a witness line) on the other end. With the current settings options, it is impossible to correctly size the terminators on both ends of the dimension within the dimension itself.
To work around that, the dimension must be placed without a terminator on the double-arrow end and a cell must be manually placed on the end of the dimension line which may require setting a rotation angle as well as setting a scale. To be able to use the Place Active Line Terminator command (in the Cells toolbox) on a dimension line would at least eliminate having to set a rotation angle.
I agree that the "default" scale of the filled (Dot) and open circle (Origin) terminators relative to the arrow terminators is too small. I believe the solution for you is to create a custom terminator for the filled and open terminators which represent the correct relative scale:
Advanced > Symbols > Origin Terminator > Type > (Symbol or Cell)Advanced > Symbols > Dot Terminator > Type > (Symbol or Cell)
