Any way to attach hidden notes associated with object?

I often wish I could attach a note, describing a change or revision I made in my layout. So if revised to a new flange size or move it, I wish I could attach a note to the flange describing the revision. As this is done in my layout (not an official drawing) I don't want text notes cluttering up my layout drawing. Any ideas how I could do that? thanks.

  • There are a couple of options available to you. You could place a simple text note describing your revision and place these into the file as construction elements. Then in the view attributes you can control the display of the constructions.

Or, you could create a notes level for your use. Another option is to first create a series of notes files and link them to the design file via the Edit>links and attach these to the object. In this way, you can store any information you want about a given object.

    Just a couple of ideas.

  • I have used the "Place Flag" tool on many occasions in the past to do what your describing. Take a look in the help file for more information...

If it needs to be physically associated with the element I would set up a simple tag set for that purpose...

  • Have you looked into Tag Data

Basically it's database information associated with elements in a MicroStation file. Sounds like just what you are looking for. Tag data can be set to be invisible (Non displayable) or visable but even when set to be visable there is a view attribute that you can turn On/Off  the Taggs

    I Hope this Helps!
