Anti-Alias Text and Data Entry Regions

MicroStation V8i SS2 08.11.07.443

With Anti-Alias Text turned on (or set to Auto-Detect) the display of Data Entry Regions is inconsistent depending on the view extents. With Anti-Alias text turned off, all the the data entry regions consistently display properly regardless of the zoom extents. See the JPG images below.

This is reproducable on multiple computers with different graphics cards so it does not appear to be a graphics card related issue. This has also been a problem with previous V8 generation releases (SS1, XM).

Can this be fixed so that Data Entry Regions display consistently when Anti-Alias Text is toggled on?

  • I can definently reproduce this.  If you really need to see the data fields why not turn anti-alias off.  It does not need to be on and really does not inprove text the look of graphicas all that much if at all.  I cannot see any change in dispaly quality other than the data fields in your picturs nor do I see and inproved display on my screen with anti-alias ON or OFF, off may actaully look better, gets rid of the fuzzy edges that make me feel like I need glasses.

  • We do leave it off, but we are not using True Type Fonts. Anti-Alias Text makes a huge difference in the readability of True Type Fonts onscreen. We have been considering allowing use of True Type Fonts for ODOT plans, but with Anti-Alias Text on to improve the readability we start losing the Data Entry Regions.

Until the display of Data Entry Regions is improved with Anti-Alias Text on, we are not going to True Type Fonts. So, I'm back to my original question for Bentley: Can the display of Data Entry regions be improved with Anti-Alias Text turned on?
