I wanted the keyin command to turn on Datafields in V8i, but I was going to post a second question on the same subject, different question. When making a text edit of a datafield you would see << >> and if you messed up on wanted to make text into a datafield 2004 V8 you could just put << in front and >> in back and it became a datafield, I tried this in V8i and the text came out showing the << >>, Is there a new way to make the datafields on the fly like the older version? I hope this question makes sense and it is in the correct place?

Try using the dialog box text editor in MicroStation V8i. You can change the text editor by going to Workspace>Preferences pull-down menu. Go to the "Text" category and select Dialog Box as your text editor style. You can then enclose your text inside the brackets to make the text enter data fields.
