MicroStation V8i text symbols / Excel Insert symbols

Is there a way for MicrostationV8i to export text symbols.  If so, is there a way in Excel to import symbols.

I would like to use the MicroStation Baseline symbol (BL overlapping) in an Excel spreadsheet.  Then link the spreadsheet to a Microstation dgn file.

Possible?

  • A simple answer is NO!

M-Sta is converting the resource fonts into an on-the-fly TTFont for display in the Word Processor but it is not recommended to take the TT Font generated on-the-fly by M-Sta and use it in Excel, especially if trying to bring it back into M-Sta. Your Best bet is to find a standard TT Font(s) that has those symbols in it (Not Easy) and use them in Excel, then M-Sta can use that TT Font in M-Sta also. if it is available on the target computer. Symbols like CenterLine, BaseLine, PropertyLine or PLate are not typically used outside of CAD. Daimeter and degree symbols can be found in some. Not all TT Fonts are standard on all PC's. In fact there are very few!

    IMHO!

    I Hope this Helps!
