Good Day Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone else has noticed any changes to how stacted fractions work with the installation of the update to version .480? In previous V8i SS2 versions, a user would type in say " 1'-2 1/2" " and the "1/2" would automatically change to a stacked fraction like " 1/2 ". On workstations that I have upgraded, this seems to be disabled.
Your comments are very much appreciated.
Thanks,
Chuck
I don't remember when it changed but it's a pain.
You have to enter 1'-2 1/2 " (notice the space after the 1/2) and your fraction will stack, then while you are still in the editor you have to then delete the space after the 1/2 to close up the inch ticks to the fraction.
Thanks all for your comments.
I have my text styles setup with fractions toggled ON. The only way we can get a fraction to stack is if we select the text in the editor and press the fractions button.
I think I'll submit a trouble report.
Thanks again
Has anything been resolved for this issue? Just recently I switched over to SS3 (08.11.09.292) and now have to press the fractions button as well. Leaving the space does not automatically switch it to a fraction as it once did. Maybe there's a setting somewhere that changes this?
When you are placing text, are you using TTF (True Type Fonts), AutoCAD shx fonts or Resource Fonts (.rsc) fonts?
The stacked fractions (Stacked Fractions enabled) you are generally talking about are only available in the Resource Fonts, and only if the Font has those fractions built into it.
TT Fonts are different and the fractions need the setting in the Word Processor dialog to get fractions to stack.
I Hope this Helps!
If auto-stacking is enabled in the active text style, I believe the trick is to have a space before and after the fraction. Both spaces should be deleted after entering the second space. The spaces are used in this way to delimit the fraction, and prevent unintended stacking of dates or other text with slashes.
I am using a resource font.....same font I've been using for years and with the proper spaces it would automatically switch to the stacked fraction. Once I switched over to SS3 it has not been working automatically.
I only have Ss3 Beta but I am not having any problems.
Could it be that it is not reading the correct .rsc font with the stacked fractions in it.
I wish it would display the Name of the font rsc file & location in the Fonts dialog when you click on the font like it does in the Line Styles dialog.
