Word Processor Error - XP Workstations Only

We have two workstations running Microstation V8i SS2 (08.11.07.443) on XP SP3.  After a recent install of a program called "Outlook Messenger" by our IT department, the users reported that the Word Processor would no longer edit text.  Initially, this affected all our workstations (7 & XP), but after a ticket was submitted to Bentley, the issue for the Windows 7 workstations was resolved when we re-installed the DHTML.msi.

However, the issue still remains and is an ongoing ticket with Bentley, No.8001535443, for the XP stations.

We've tried multiple solutions, to no avail.  I have used regsrvr32 to uninstall and re-install the dhtml files, verified the registry key for dhtml and even re-installed the prerequisite pack with no results.  Short of dumping the Messenger program and re-installing Microstation, I don't know what else to do.

The users are using the Dialog Box to edit text right now, but one user has noted when he goes to edit stacked fractions with the Dialog Box, it too, quits working.

Any suggestions?

  • Hi Charles!

    Since no replies I'll comment!

I'd try re-installing the Prerequisite Pack , then MicroStation. If that didn't work I'd get rid of Messenger and do the same.  You need M-Sta to make $$, not Messenger. Ss2 is not certified for XM but is for Windows 7. Maybe you should go back to a MicroStation certified for the older OS in order to work. They both will work on M-Sta. V8 files. You just have different tools and features available.  Last option is a new OS or computer.

    Just my opinion!

    I Hope this Helps!

  • We have new workstations in the wings, but I don't have any idea how long it will take IT to get around to it.  We need SS2 because we also use Map and Water for our mapping system (along with Oracle).  I just find it hard to believe that for 7, the fix was quite simple, but for XP  - nothing.  I agree, if it were up to me I'd dump messenger, and try reinstalling Microstation to see if that would fix it.  Like I mentioned, they are still able to work, but it's annoying.
