Rhino V5 .3dm Referencing

I have just received two Rhino Version 5 file, and after reading this wiki, I installed Micro- Station SS3, Update 2, believing that this would remedy the issue for this user, and unfortunately this does not work, it crashes all the software I have.

With one 3DM file that is 794,652 KB in size, Micro station begins to load the elements in the file , but stops @ 1445 elements loaded@26% then stops responding  (See Screen Capture Rhino 3)

With another 3DM file that is 250,372 KB in size, Micro station begins to load the elements in the file, and without warning, just crashes.  (See Screen Capture Rhino 4)

Thinking that the files were corrupt or unusually large, I installed a free 90 day Rhino file viewer, and it opened the files without issue.

because this discussion is quite old and based on a former version of MicroStation (and marked as answered moreover), it would be better to start a new thread in my opinion.

I think it would be good to try the big files you tested with MicroStation CONNECT Edition Update 1. My experience with huge fbx files was similar if V8i was used, but it works fine (regardles quite slow) in CONNECT Edition. I guess it's because better memory management. I also remember that it worked fine when fbx was referenced than if imported into dgn file.

The dataset would not come into play here, because Rhino does not recognize the data group information, all the user and I are doing is to just reference the Rhino file into another file.
