Microstation Compatriots,
I am looking for hotkeys for specific things, I'm not quite sure Microstation V8i has.
Is there a hotkey for:
-Moving the cursor into the key-in box? (A set of keys that will allow me to type without moving the mouse myself.)
-Hotkeys to activate an AutoCAD equivalent of ORTHO mode? (Where you can only move horizontally or vertically.)
Also, is there a way to customize hotkeys in Microstation as well? I'm learning Microstation from an AutoCAD perspective, so some of the basic actions I'm trying to relearn.
Thank you,
-KN
Moving the cursor into the key-in box? EnterKey on keyboard (this will only work if you are in the home positon)
Home Position? - take a look at Accudraw and learn how to use it.
Hotkeys to activate an AutoCAD equivalent of ORTHO mode? take a look at Accudraw and learn how to use it.
Also, is there a way to customize hotkeys in Microstation as well? There are many ways to customize Microstation but, for now take a look at Function Keys.

Search is your friend on this site. Just search Accudraw or Function Keys or Customize on this site and look them up in Microstation Help on your PC. The issue you are having is knowing the AutoCad's equivalent word in Microstation.
Take a look in your Microstation help files for: MicroStation for AutoCAD Users

Hi, You may find this helpful together with the advice Roland gave. Learning AccuDraw is the key.
Easy orientation in 3D-Space the attached file is a seed-file with these settings.
Specifically to your questions:
- Keyin-focus: Either press F9 (or (ESC)>Enter)
- Ortho - (Smart Lock): When AccuDraw is active press the Enter-Button (to activate AccuDraw press F11 (or (ESC)>Spacebar)
the focus is shown with the little icon in the statusbar down at the right hand side - see also Input focus order
- Customize the hotkeys: under Workspace>Function Keys (in Help you find the keyins - or you can record a macro to find out which keyins the functions use)
If you are interested in Learning to crunch your learning curve you should consider to have a look into the Bentley LEARN Server. Under this link you find some free example content. http://learn.bentley.com/app/Public/ViewLearningPathDetails?lpId=104215.
