I get a message alert when opening a microstation drawing that the file is write protected and I open it in a Read-Only mode. How can I un-write protect the drawing/file? Thanks!

Any file, or one file in particular?
Regards, Jon Summers LA Solutions
only the file is read-only.
Is the file on your local machine or is it on the network?
Is it in a folder/ drive that is read only?
When was the last time the file did work correctly?
Thank you,

The file is a standard detail drawing. Initially, it was in the network folder. Then I copied it to my local drive to edit it. I did the long method of saving the file as "Save as" then edit it. I wanted to know if there is a shorter method of unprotecting the file. I don't know when the file worked correctly. It is a standard drawing and it is not meant to be edited that's why (i think) the creator write-protected it.
Depending on what type of write protection is used, would determine what needed to be done to unprotect it. However if the author did something to the file specifically, there may not be a "method" to unprotect it without their permission.
Was the file marked as read only in the Window's properties, or were you prompted for a password or certificate to edit the file?
