Level Display dialog missing

Question

 I have recently upgraded from MicroStation V8 2004 to V8i. 
 My detached Level Display dialog will not open. 
 The dialog will only show if I click on the down arrow next to the Level Display icon.

Try creating a new <user>.docking.xml file. 
 1. This file will be located in the same folder as your User Preference File (UPF). To locate, go to: Workspace > Configuration > MS_USERPREF. The file will be at the location defined for this variable. 
 2. With MicroStation closed, delete the file. 
 3. Open MicroStation. 
 
 Don't use the User Preference File (UPF) from MicroStation V8 2004 in the new installation. 
 Try creating a new UPF.

This issue is most likely associated with a dialog box that has been dragged off the edge of the screen. The easiest method of retrieving the dialog box would be to locate it under the Window menu in MicroStation. 
 
If this is not available, to reset MicroStation back to the default settings, keyin the following at a command prompt: 
 
"C:\Program Files\Bentley\MicroStation (Select Series)\MicroStation\ustation.exe" -restoredefaults 
 
(or whichever location has been selected for the installation of MicroStation) 
 
This should reset everything back to default so the dialog boxes reappear. 
 
You can open a Command Prompt either from: 
 
> Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories 
 
or 
 
> Start Menu > Run...

You also may have pop set turned on. When this is on this will hide the tool whenever your cursor is away from the tool it will only reappear when you get your cursor back or near it's location. This is in the primary toolbox al the way at the end and it looks like a green stop light. IF is it green click on it and it will turn red, this is then off. The dialog will no longer disappear when you move away from it.
