Does anyone know if there is a variable similar to MS_REF_DEFAULTATTACHDIRECTORY to specify the default location for importing a model? As far as I can see there isn't (although there is the "import model" keyin) but any confirmation welcome.
If I am understanding correctly you are talking about the keyin MODEL IMPORT which is the tool used on the Models Dialog to import a model into your current design file. When you say that you are wanting a configuration variable to "specify the default location for importing a model" would this be when the Import Model From File dialog is opened? Is it this particular location that you are wanting to define using the configuration variable?

If you already Have a file open in a specific location, then import the model - it is in the file in the location you've already selected???? Are you trying to define a particular model in the dgn????

You have the "File History" and "Directory history" in the File Open dialog (Upper Right Corner) when you bring up the Import Model dialiog and within that, in the File history you have the ability to select an existing or Custom Variable you create, pointing to any location you want! Does this help?

Yes Andrew, that pretty much what I was after,
While the other options suggested above work for references (and any other files) nothing beats being able to "lock it down" to avoid operator error.
I take it from the responses that there isn't one currently. Thanks all.
