I'm using a cached reference for a saved view of a 3D model and I would like to hide specific lines. However, when I right click a line to hide it, it hides the entire object. Is there a way to hide only specific lines and not the entire object? If not with visable edges cached, then how?
Thanks in advance.
The options available in Plane Old MicroStation is to:
Place the lines you want to hide on levels and turn them off.
Use Design History and reference a particular revision # / Date.
Create a Names Group of objects and just reference that Group.
Reference a Saved View that does not display those objects.
Make the objects you don't want to see Construction elements and turn off Construction elements for the Reference.
Generate a Hidden Line (.hln) file from the model and reference that.
All have plus & minus to them.

Thanks for the response George, unfortunately the only one that really works in our set up is the HLNs and we're trying to move away from that as we'd prefer to have the saved views be linked back to the model. Unfortunately, it's looking more and more like we're going to have to stick with the HLNs.
Thanks again for the information.
Just wait a bit and someone may have another solution for you. There are a lot of ways to get from point A to point B. I only stated the one's I could think of at the time.
Another option I just thought of is using Front & Back Clipping Plane(s) display.
George you may know, as I don't hve Plain Microstation to check this.
I know we now have a Dynamic View in Microstation.
Can it not provide what looks like a hidden line view in Micostation (just not hatching, patterning and line weights)?
If so, that would be the solution and still stay live.....??

try this option before you settle on hiddenlines as this is what we do every day and NO more time to translate anything.
