I REF'd in a drawing, but can't see any of the elements. I've covered all the basics; level display, nesting. The reference shows up in the list, and when I turn it on & off, I can see some existing elements being covered up, but can't see anything on top.
I realize it could be a number of things, and I have minimal information for you, but I'm hoping that you can throw out some ideas on what else to check.
Try using 'Fit View" and in the tool settings set 'Files' to Reference. What happens when doing a fit view now?
Tried that...nothing. In fact, I can see the border of the ref file when I select it in the reference list, and it's not even the entire size that the file is supposed to be. Also, in the level display, I have some bold listings, but the level(s) that some of the elements in the reference don't show up in the Used column.
I wish I had more info, but it's just really strange behavior, and I've never seen it before.
Do you know if when the reference was attached if it was attached on a specific level? Go the attachment settings of the attached reference and check the "Level" setting. Is there a value for this settings. If there is a level value make sure this level is turned on in the master file.
I'm using MS_REF_NEWLEVELDISPLAY. This is what I always use, and never had this problem. I made sure all levels are on everywhere; Display, Global Freeze, nested ref's, etc.
We're requesting the client re-send another copy of the file. Who knows, it could be corrupt or something.
Thanks for your help. Again, I wish I had more info.
Can you supply a sample set?
Is the file 2D or 3D?
Since you said the elements seem to be covered up, Go to the Settings pull-down > View Attributes, turn off the Fill display and Text & Text node display then do a fit. This eliminates a Filled shape, element, cell, or a Text Background from hiding elements. You can also make that Reference update last so it will display after elements in your active file or other references. This MAY help you figure out what is hiding the display.

Are there multiple models in the file, if so are you referencing the correct model?
Got it.
I only had the Default model on. There were a couple others in there too. Thanks all.
