ESC key is closing tool

(Posted on behalf of a user) 
 
 I select the Place Text tool and type text into the dialog box style text editor. 
 I then press the 'Esc' key intending to move focus away from the dialog box, so that pressing the 'Enter' key will display the pop-up key-in dialog. 
 Instead, pressing the 'Esc' key closes the dialog box text editor. 
 Why is this?

Try this: 
 
 
 Go to Workspace > Preferences > Category: Input 
 
 
 Uncheck "Allow ESC key to stop current command" > OK 
 
 
 File > Save Settings

Hi Craig, make sure that "Allow ESC key to stop current command", in Workspace->Preferences->Input is unticked.
