Hi
I have a water distribution system drawn in microstation where all the pipes have been classified by their sizes ( by several levels). my boss wants me to add another level to the drawing which indicates the content of pipes (rather than their sizes) but he wants this two levels be linked together so that every time they make a change on let say level 1 level 2 can automatically be updated accordingly ( without manually assigning the changes). is there such an option in Microstation. If anyone can help me I will be very grateful.
Thanks
no you cant this is an attribute feature which is mostly done in GIS software like map info, ersi or Bentley map
But there is still a way to keep your level 1 with no need for level 2....
But the simplest way for you is to use symbology to define the contents either by colour code ie Red for Sewer, Cyan Drinkable or potable water... you can also use linestyle symbology ie potablewater can be a line style that looks like dash W dash and still has a defined colour and sewer dash S dash.. these then can be changed without changeing the level simply by changing the symbology attribute this then also works for pdfs, colour prints as well as black and white prints...
To change what you already have would be very easy using the csv remapping and defining a line style for each level used as long as you know what each level is for ... you may need to create several more new levels to sepparate out 300mm sewer from 300 mm gas....depends on your existing level structures....
