Feature Model not reading all columns in Parameter table correctly.

I'm trying to build a simple parametric cell with Feature Modeler.  Some variables are not populating properly from the parameter table.

I tried logging this thru support but after 20 minutes of trying the site errors out when I pick my MS version from the pick list.

Any advice appreciated.

  • Hello David,

What version of MS are you using?

Can you upload an example file showing the issue and a screen capture showing the discrepancy?

    Thank you in advance.

Also, any information you can provide about the issues with logging an SR would be appreciated, I would be more than happy to pass them along

    Thank you,

  • Dan,

Thanks for responding.    I'm using 8.11.09.459

Site was very slow and crashed every time I tried to set the MS version while filing the SR.   I finally manage to get an SR filed later that evening (23rd).  I have not yet heard back but will post answer back here.  Seemed to have something to do with the order I filled out the form.

Moving on and trying to build a new cell via DD I am now encountering a "Body could not be swept".

Bottom line is I've tried to build 4 simple feature cells.  Only one has worked.  One can't be done, and the remaining 2 result in software errors.

I'm curious how many users actually use feature cells in a production environment.

  • Dan.

Thanks for sorting this out.  Can we get a TR filed on this?

  • Hello DavidG,

I went back and retested this a few times using my own variables and equation and I was not able to duplicate.  I have a feeling that it in your case, one of the variables were derived at one time and for some reason held on to that value until it was deleted and recreated.

That could easily be.   Still a bug in there someplace where variables are not getting cleaned up properly and then use erroneous data to build the geometry.

  • Hello DavidG,

I would be more than happy to file a TR on it if I could reproduce it with a new file.  Do you recall what steps you did to get the variable to act in such a way?  Again, I tried to reproduce this a few different ways on a new file and I have not be successful in reproducing it and getting the independent variable to act like a function of the equation with a zero value.

  • Dan,

I spent over a week messing around trying to get that stuff to work.    I probably deleted and recreated that geometry over a dozen times.  Imported and updated various tables dozens of time.  That was over a month ago so its pretty tough for me to recall specific steps.

Only think I can think of is variable in question may at one time have been imported or updated from a parameter table or perhaps at one time I may have come in via a DDD cell that was later deleted.  Then the variable was later re-added as a calculated Variable.

All I can really tell you is I used the tools available thru vanilla MS.  I didn't mess with VBA or any other programming tools that may have modify the data.
