Ok I recently started experiencing an issue on V8i... well I just noticed the issue. A coworker of mine came to me and asked if I could help him with bringing back the "task dialog box" & the "main" toolbar. These two items were not working properly. So I went to my system & opened a few project profiles & I am now experiencing the exact same issue. I was able to get the items back by simply closing & re opening the same project profile. But this would only work every other time even if I am opening the same profile.
I figured maybe this was an issue with too many different .upf, .docking.xml, .TaskNavigation.xml files as MicroStation creates these files automatically & they are each specific to the different (User, Project, Interface) configurations. I tried limiting it down to one single User.ucf & one (.TaskNavigation.xml) file by hardcoding it into the .pcf file via (MS_TASKDIALOGPREF = C:/Users/xxxxxxx/AppData/Local/Bentley/MicroStation/8.11/o_Dof88niaENmS1PChQ4Mg/prefs/User_name.TaskNavigation.xml) but this does not solve the issue.
So I usually have an entire profile using the same name (client_name.ucf, client_name.pcf) & client_name for the interface. This setup gave a very easy way to keep all settings files specific to each client. This created a (client_name.pcf, client_name.docking.xml & client_name.client_name.client_name.TaskNavigation.xml) for each different setup.
Then I tried (user_name.ucf, client_name.pcf) & user_name for the interface. This way it was always the same for the user & interface even when you changed the project selection. This did not solve the issue. I even used my own shortcuts ("C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries)\MicroStation\ustation.exe" -wuUser_Name)

Can you be more specific about what is not working properly? Are the dialogs missing? Are the buttons missing? Can you upload a screen capture of the issue?

The "Main" tool box when open is missing all buttons... When going into the "Tools" menu you see (Attributes, Primary, Standard, Main & Tasks). Depending on what you have selected, some of these will have a checkmark next to them. If I select "Tasks" the checkmark will not show & the "Tasks" dialog box will not open. If I select "Main", the checkmark will show but the toolbar will be empty.

Sounds like you may have an issue with other parts of the system, could you provide a DXDIAG report of your machine?
Steps to generate the report:
1. Go to the Windows Start button, left click on it
2. In the Run/ Search bar type dxdiag
3. An option for dxdiag.exe should appear
4. Left click on it to run the program
5. If prompted, you do not need to check for signatures
6. Once it is open and the progress bar completes, click the Save all Information button
7. Save the information as a text file, and upload that file to here.

If not, how do I make it available for you to view?
First, it appears your video card driver is about a year and a half old, I would suggest upgrading that.
Second, since you are running Windows 7, I would suggest that you change the Aero theme to a Windows 7 basic theme:

Please let me know if either of these options help.
And if not, please also post the full version number of MS you are using(found under Help > About)
