Mass-convert TIFFs to PDF

Question

I work for a water utility company and we have 1000's of plans scanned to TIFF, some very long (up to 15m) In order to reduce printing costs, these have to beconverted to PDF for easier viewing. 
 I have found that Bentley Viewer and Microstation v8i are very efficient PDF creators. With the right pltcfg, they produce compact and efficient PDFs from TIFFs, longer than 5m. 
 After opening the TIFF in either of the above programs, I proceed as follows: 
 - select the TIFF 
 - place a fence around the border 
 - print the fence towards a certain .pltcfg-file 
 
 I would like to be able to do that with the complete database of all my plans. I need a script to execute and drive MS, because viewer has no scrpting ability.

Try Irfanview or Ghostscript 
 both free and do direct conversions so no need to fit or size. 
 I used ghostscript to convert 50,000 scanned in TIFFs to PDF and used Perl to 'stitch' together tons of H&S reports, keeping single PDFs of all the included drawings. 
 Are all the TIFFs in one folder or folder tree? 
 Could alter a perl script to do it for you.

File > Print Organizer will allow you to plot multiple files with a print style to place the fence around your border defining the plot area prior to plotting using your existing PDF.pltcfg.

Unfortunately Print Organizer does not have the capability of printing TIFF files in batch mode at this time. We do have a product called ProjectWise InterPlot Organizer which will allow you to bring TIFF files into the interface and plot these from there. The interface will allow you to then export to a single .pdf file or a .pdf file for each print definition. BTW, different file size should not be an issue. You can select the paper size you want to print at. This product can be downloaded from selectservices.bentley.com
