I have a large number of .dwg files that I need to save as .dgn. Now the .dwg files will open in Microstation Powerdraft and I can export them individually but this will be time consuming. I am using XM version and there is no "batch" option under the utilities menu.
I am not sure if it is easier to do this through Microstation or AutoCAD.
Any help greatly appreciated.
MicroStation V8 XM does have a Batch Convert Utility under the utilities menu. Are you running a custom workspace ? This may account for why it is not listed.
I don't believe am running a custom workspace.
I did not see that you posted that you are running Powerdraft. You need full Microstation to batch convert.
Sorry. I should have clarified that. I do have a machine that has full Microstation V8 but have never used the batch tool before
If you have MicroStation V8 then under the utilities menu there should be batch convert. In the help go to contents> Menus> Utilities menu. this will then show you information regarding the batch converter and how it is used.
I have found it but DGN is not an option in the output list.
Defualt Output fomat: V8 and V7 are DGN formats. You will want to use V8 as that is what the current version is that you are using. V7 is only for going to the older format before V8. an example is if you need the files in a DGN format for the MIcroStation J version.
Thanks. Got it working but some DWG files seem to fail while others convert ok. The files that are failing open in microstation fine.
Any clues?
Are you getting an error message ? If so can you provide the error message or a screen capture.?
No error. Just a "Failed" in the status column
Can you post one of the files that failed but open ? also can you also post the origial DWG file.
