How to read label coordinates in layout sheet from attached references

Is there is anyway to read the original coordinates from attached models into a layout sheet?  That option will enable us to do complete drawing annotations in LAYOUT instead of having a hybrid of annotations in the model+layout.  This will improve the drawing quality and be more productive.  Hopefully someone has a method now to do it.. I'll greatly appreciate it if you can share.  Otherwise, it may be a good thing to improve for the future.  thanks in advance.

  • This whole discussion was about reading world coordinates from a sheet model. If you bring the sheet to the model, you have to rotate the view, not the viewport (xref to the model).

This is where you can't have a 1 to 1 discussion of AutoCAD vs MicroStation. While referencing in the model into the sheet is the equivalent to having a viewport in paperspace, and "Activating" that reference file in MicroStation is similar to switching to modelspace while in a layout, it is far from identical.

But making the statement that AutoCAD has no limitations - on these forums, that's just asking for trouble.

    • Can you reference the paperspace into another paperspace or a model?
    • Can you reference a file to itself?
    • Can you create multiple models in a single file?
    • Can you display linetypes on 3D polylines?

If we want to continue this discussion, we should start a new thread.
