We use Microstation/Powerdraft on Windows XP running on Parallels. After one workstation had issues I deinstalled and tried to reinstall Microstation but each time the installer fails with error 1602, the message says that 'user cancelled installation' but it is just cancelling all by itself without me doing a thing. Any ideas...! would be very grateful.
April 8th is closing in on us and Parallels isn't a certified environment. Nonetheless, with some additional information we should be able to help with the error. Additional information requested (from ReadMe)...
NOTE: Log files - When you install the application following log files are created:
BentleyInstallationlLog.log: This log file contains information about all the actions and analysis performed by the installation setup wizard. It also saves the installation commands used to install the application. In case of any error in the installation, it stores the error code. The string LOG_FILES_FOLDER in this file points to the installation log folder location. This file is common for all the Bentley products. Each time a Bentley application is installed, this log file is appended with the content of the application.
Installation log: When you install the application, its installation log is created. This log is saved in a new folder created inside C:\Users\User.Name\AppData\Local\Temp. The name of the new folder is randomly generated, such as E32830B5-3516-489D-AE49-EB1BD8A10867. If you execute the installation multiple times, the latest log can be taken from the last modified/created folder. The LOG_FILES_FOLDER string in the BentleyInstallationlLog.log file also points to the installation log folder location.
Hi, I have tried a completely clean install on a completely clean install of a new virtual machine and still get the same error. It is running Direct X9 as it is XP and Parallels 3 (I know, a bit old but it is an old-ish machine)
I have found the log files, the last bit in the log reads

You can see the 1602 error at the end. Thanks for any help!!
Hi HanaL,
Please attach the log located at %temp%BentleyInstallationlLog.log. That will help in analyzing all activities done by installer while chaining MicroStation installation with pre-requisite.
~Vishal
Hi, I am uploading the log now. Thanks for your help. Sorry I could only get my hands on the logfile now as I was at a different site all yesterday.
Hi, please upload %temp%BentleyInstallationlLog.log. I am sure you are reading this log file to find MicroStation PowerDraft log file.
You can also Create Deployment image to create an image for installation in "Reduced" mode. Reduced mode installation may go through on the system.
To read Deployment Guide for details, please launch Setup.exe using command "Setup.exe /s /?"
Note: The MicroStation PowerDraft installation log you have uploaded, is a successful installation of Draft.
Thanks,
HI,
I am not sure how it is a successful installation when it has the 1602 error at the end, and if I try to open the application it aborts startup with an error?
Hi,
Please remove MicroStation PowerDraft using Add\Remove Programs in Control Panel and try the installation again.
What error do you see, when application aborts? If you do not see any error and application is simply crashing, then Application Event log will be of use for us. Please use steps provided here to locate event log. Export this log to be able to provide it to us.
