Installation error 1602

We use Microstation/Powerdraft on Windows XP running on Parallels. After one workstation had issues I deinstalled and tried to reinstall Microstation but each time the installer fails with error 1602, the message says that 'user cancelled installation' but it is just cancelling all by itself without me doing a thing. Any ideas...! would be very grateful.

  • Hi HanaL,

Please attach the log located at %temp%BentleyInstallationlLog.log. That will help in analyzing all activities done by installer while chaining MicroStation installation with pre-requisite.

You can attach a file to your post.  It's more convenient, for everybody, than cut-and-paste.  Use the Advanced Reply Editor , which provide a way to attach a file in the Attachments/Options tab.

  • Hi, the whole log is posted below - I didn't post it all last time as it is so long!

[admin edit: The log file text was extracted and put in an ASCII text file that is attached.]

  • Please either include the log files or should you not wish to expose that type of information on the forum, start a service ticket with technical support.  Again, this environment isn't supported but from information in the log files we can tell you the exact source of the error.  All we have from this is that the installation was cancelled, purportedly by you (but I'm certain you're not cancelling the installation and then asking us why the installation was cancelled).

ERROR_INSTALL_USEREXIT 1602 The user cancels installation.

  • Hi, I have tried a completely clean install on a completely clean install of a new virtual machine and still get the same error. It is running Direct X9 as it is XP and Parallels 3 (I know, a bit old but it is an old-ish machine)

I have found the log files, the last bit in the log reads

You can see the 1602 error at the end. Thanks for any help!!
