Level Filters

v8i SS3 - Is it possible to apply different level filters to the active file and reference files?  For instance, 3 different filters to show only roads in the active file, electrical in reference 1 and water in reference 2.

Every time I attempt to apply a filter, it seems to apply to the active file and all reference files.

  • Filters are per file, not per model.  If you want to filter the reference file levels using filters found in the reference file, you must first set MS_LEVEL_LOAD_ATTACHMENT_FILTERS.  One defined the Filters tree in both the Level Manager and Level Display dialogs will allow you to choose reference filters which affect only the reference model.  Alternatively, try using the File property if you want to create a reference specific filter in the active file.

  • Here is an idea... create a submodel in the original reference self reference the default model  into the sub ref ( call that model filtered layers) now turn off all the filtered levels you want off in this and save settings return to the default model..now open a file you wanted to attach the reference file but dont use the default model use the submodel called filtered...

you can now of course  also ref attach the default model with all the levels  and turn it of or on via display manager or ref manager .. I forgot you'll  need  nesting on when you attach the sub modeled ref file we called filtered layers...
