If I sat all day doing one thing I would probably be using them, but I don't. ......Now if Bentley had a good method of allowing users configs to be stored on an USB stick that would be a different story. I could bring my configuration with me. I just haven't come up with an easy way to do that.... yet.

I think you mean a command-line switch. You can modify a shortcut to include one or more switches.
This article about MicroStation Command Line Switches tells more.

In my case I use my function keys mainly for OS based operations, not application based operations. I have 3 VM's XP, Win 7, Win 8 + Bootcamp add to that various versions of MS to match client configurations. Its just not cost effective for me to try constantly maintain (and remember) a bunch of custom function key configurations. Additionally if I'm required to do work on site reliance on a custom configuration can be a handicap. It's hard enough dealing with all the configuration variation you and have with vanilla MicroStation let alone sorting out custom ones.

You must be jokingI
The Function key menus customisation is the most productive most greatest advantage that mstn has over most other products.. last time I looked at acad they still couldnt do it but that was 3-4 years ago...
When I see a user who doesnt customise or at least use factory F keys I see a drafter wuth one hand tied behind their back...
I love F keys menus I have lots of them.....
I have a funkey.mnu every day work plus other ones ones for special projects or other disciplines like electrical which I dont do often .. this makes me very productive and fast drafter...
As suggested - Turn off all is better than open Ref dialog and turn off by selecting.
Thanks mwlong.
Tim and Maria - thanks for the tip with levels ! i never used this
