In the fonts now delivered with MicroStation are a number of AutoCAD fonts. One I like is Symplex as it has a number of Civil Engineering characters like C/L B/L M/L where the two letters overlap. I can see them in the word processor and in the Symbols dialog box. But when I move my cursor into a view to place the text, the character displays as a ?. And when placed, remains the ?
If I select it to edit, the ? remains, but I can use the symbol dialog box to replace it with the correct glyph, in the editor. But if I accept the edit, the text in the file retains the ? and does not show me the C/L glyph.
I have used this before in other files. Any thoughts on why this is occurring?

I can not duplicate your issue.using v08.11.09.459 V8i (Ss3). Everything looks and acts normally.

I have used this before and am not sure what gives. But we are a long way from moving to Ss3. As the CAD Manager, I have to get all of the dgnlibs and other things together and even then, if a client is still in Ss2, I may have to be diligent that we don't use some feature that when opened in Ss2 is not supported.

works fine for me can use acad simplex from WP direct and can edit after placement....
check where your acad font is coming from maybe its a different version from the mstn supplied default ones with the same name and causing a problem...
and I'm using ss2.. with no extra acad fonts
