My coworkers and I keep finding these files in our working directory. Our preferences are set not to compress on exit. Can you tell me why this is happening and what I can do to make it stop? It doesn't create them for every file, seems kind of random.
A*.dgn-compress file is created when in MicroStation the action "Compress Design" is started. It is normally a temporary file that is deleted after the compress has finished successfully. However, in the case that the operation is interrrupted, it's possible that the *.dgn-compress is not being deleted.
Also, if the compress process is interrupted by bottle necks in the network or slow response by the file server it looks like the file can close before the compress has completed leaving the compress-dgn behind.
The file can be manually removed from the directory/folder.

Thank you Inga. Do you know why Microstation is trying to compress the files since it is not set in my preferences to do so on exit?
Hi,
Please find a link to a wiki page discussing this issue on why uncompressed files are not deleted::
Regards
Yes thank you. I read this before posting. What I don't understand is why it is compressing in the first place since my preferences are not set to compress on exit.
Perhaps the files are being compressed manually via File > Compress, or with the key-in Compress Design.
