How to convert textnode to text with the same rotation angle? Then use Element Selection to pick up the textstring; choose "Place Text" and place the picked up string to place it as a new text. Then rotate the view back to "unrotated" and eventually delete the first text. (current microStation). I guess this largely could be put into one or two commandstrings if frequently required.

RE: TextNode to text

What are you trying to achieve in the first place? In the current microStation if you place a text "along" a linestring or a curve you can bend the curve or vertexes and even can move it together with the curve (if you do not want to see the curve you could place it e.g. on another level to bend it.
First not many users would be advanced enough to make vba code to do that..

Secondly the poster was trying to get a solution that didnt create text nodes .. which is what he has before drop complex

while replacing the text with two pieces of text is a crude rough down and dirty work around it works in under 5 mins... no vba skill required but if the user has 20 different pieces of text in several files than yes rough and dirty is not adequate...

RE: TextNode to text
Can I get a code snippet to achieve this?
Write a selection app, then after selecting the dropped texts group them in the vba/mdl, which makes an orphan cell.

Then do a dirty and alter its type from 2 cell header to 7 text node and rewrite the descriptor in the modify routine.

Used to do this to create Intergraph type 62 elements from Omnipipe graphics.

As the rotation angle was so small a difference between I was able to approximate the angle with TWO lines and use the place Text Above for the CANO part as a separate word then CARATE as a second word above the next line this produces just text that looks very close to the right angles also reproduced what you have by create curve an place text above the text it makes a text node as you have ... but as the radius of your original curve is so big I dont think anyone would be able to tell my text 2 words isnt right... only other way is to use a GIS package like mapInfo and use labels not text... but thats not an option for you...in this forum...
Can I get a code snippet to achieve this?
As Jon noticed, it's not fully clear how the result should looks like. It would be helpful to not only provide input data example, but also what exact result is expected. I assume it should be one text element where the first letter has the same position and rotation as the source first letter, but I can imagine also other solutions.

Code snippet ... I am sure if anybody already solved such problem in the past, he will share it's knowledge or even the results. I have no such code and despite of it's probably not very complex, it cannot be done in 5 minutes as a short relaxation from normal work, so sorry, I cannot send you it.

Thanks for your suggestion. Can I get a code snippet to achieve this?

RE: TextNode to text
Please find the attached sample DGN
Thanks for the example — it helps a lot!
I need it as a single text element without affecting existing [text]rotation angle
The text node holds a number of text elements. Each text element stores a single character having a unique orientation. Using DROP COMPLEX creates a set of text elements, each having its own orientation.

I don't see how you could create a single text element without affecting existing rotation angle, because it would be the words caño carate having a single orientation. In other words, which of the individual characters would be the source of the new text element's orientation?

There's no tool that I'm aware of that will take a set of text elements and assemble them into a single text element. You need to follow Jan's suggestion and write a VBA macro.

You would need to provide the DGN model, rather than a screenshot. Otherwise nobody can tell what you really have there. Also, confirm that you use, and intend to continue using, MicroStation V8 2004 Edition, because it seems that it behaves differently to the current MicroStation V8i.

RE: TextNode to text

Hai Jan,

Key-in command

DROP COMPLEX
I think it's not the solution. I tried it and it seems it doesn't work in my V8 2004 Edition installation, the text placed along an element is not dropped to an independent texts (but it works fine in the current version).

But unfortunately even if it's dropped, the requirement to receive text with the same rotation angle is not fulifilled.

In my opinion it cannot be done easily in V8 2004 Edition, but VBA macro can probably help.

It may have also been produced using a 3rd party software package. Each letter within this text node looks like it may be individually placed. You could use the keyin DROP COMPLEX, as explained by Jon Summers, or the Drop Element tool but I suspect this may drop each of these letters as individual pieces of text. Try out these tools and see how you go with its operation.

RE: TextNode to text

Key-in command
