All I have is cross hairs now. I don't know where the little select element bubble went but I need it back. help?
Try menu Workspace|Preferences. In the Preferences dialog, choose Input. Have you modified one of the Locate options?

Pointer Display Settings
Workspace > Preferences > Input has the settings for
Locate Tollerance: (Default is 10 pixels)
The Locate circle will only display when M-Sta. is looking for something
Pointer Size: Normal or Full View
Pointer Type: Orthogonal (+) or Isometric (X)
Settings > Design File > Color: (These are held using "Save Settings" and will follow the file.
Settings for the Locate circle shading color
It also has the colors settings for elements that are Hilighted
& the color the elements will display when Selected
There are additional settings in the newer versions that can override the file settings for Hilight & Selection Color. These can be found
Workspace > Preferences > View Options (near the bottom)
I Hope This Helps Someone Reading This! (Intergraph>PseudoStation>MicroStation user since 1980's)
If the cursor itself is a giant cross hair on the screen, try either
Workspace > Preferences > Input > Pointer Size - set this to Normal
OR
Use the KeyIn "set cursor small" without the quotes

I'm assuming you have crosshairs, but what you want is a mouse cursor with the selection bubble. Either use your element selection tab to select the crosshairs with the center circled, or use the shortcut "Y".
Maybe you just changed your default selection preference from "single" to "block" or something else. Happens to me frequently by accident. With activated element selection hit CTRL+SPACEBAR and you get the following window:
Then just choose the upper left option and you have your bubble back.
